MoH keeping pace with the latest technology for cancer treatment
Kuwait:
Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi
reaffirmed on Saturday the Ministry’s keenness to keep pace with the latest
technological developments in various fields, especially in the treatment of
cancer patients. This was said by Al-Awadhi at the Middle East Regional
Conference on Medical Physics, under the slogan “Promoting Acceleration in
Radiology.” The event was organized by the Middle East Federation of Medical
Physics (MEFOMP), with the help of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
and the Kuwait Women’s Health Association and was hosted by the Kuwait Cancer
Control Center (KCCC).
The Ministry is devoted to achieving this goal,
with the main focus on developing the capabilities of national human cadres and
training them on the latest technologies, he added. Al-Awadhi stressed that the
KCCC is a regional leading center, as it provides care for cancer patients and
employs more than 600 qualified employees in the field of oncology. He pointed
out radio therapy as being one of the most effective methods in treating cancer,
as millions of patients receive it annually.
Al-Awadhi added that the new cancer center, which
is equipped with the latest radiotherapy devices and other imaging technology,
will be opening soon. For his part, Dr Meshari Al-Nuaimi, President of MEFOMP,
said that the theme of this conference reflects the progress of integrating fast
and smart systems to enhance patient care in the Middle East. The conference is
more than just a gathering of experts, but a shared commitment to a noble cause
to promote and protect human life by making operations safer and more effective.
